PAINTED POTTERY PAIR OF SOLDIERS
NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY (386-535)
34.9 cm high (without stand)
Pair of pottery soldiers wearing lamellar breastplates and helmets, standing in slightly bent stance, one of their arms half-raised, heads lightly bowed. The faces of the soldiers are finely moulded with an expressive frown. The grey pottery is unglazed and partly covered in red pigment.
