PORCELAIN BOWL

KANGXI MARK AND PERIOD (1662-1722)

14.8 cm wide

The square bowl with chamfered corners stands on a straight foot, the sides spreading to a flaring rim. The exterior is painted in underglaze blue with four elegant ladies seated on an outdoor terrace, one playing flute, another playing with a cat. The four scenes are separated by the corner sides decorated with ruyi below a geometric motif. The inside is painted with a square panel enclosing three boys at play. The base is inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character mark within a double circle.
