SMALL CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL VASE

18TH CENTURY

12.5 cm high

The vase stands on a splayed foot, the rounded body rising to a tall slender neck with everted rim. The decoration, outlined in copper wire, is filled in with blue, red, white, green and yellow enamels showing stylised  shou roundels alternated with pairs of bats above a border of petals enclosing lotus flowers, all against a turquoise-blue ground. The neck is decorated with archaic motifs and further lotus blooms between two ruyi borders around the shoulders and mouth. The base, foot, rim and mouth interior are gilded.
