SILVER MINIATURE BOX AND COVER
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
3.8 cm diameter
The small box is of circular form and thinly constructed. The base of the box is convex very finely engraved with a design of birds amidst a floral scroll with a small blossom in the center, all against a ring-punched ground. The straight sides are adorned with a scrolling border against a ring-punched ground. The cover is of the same shape as the box and similarly engraved. The interiors of the box and cover were subject to light green encrustation.
